FYI Air France are starting 3xdaily Bristol to Paris Charles de
Gaulle. That's in addition to easyJet's twice daily rotation on the
route.
Just what exactly is going on with Glasgow-Paris? |

I saw that a few days ago and I am still confused why GLA doesn't have

Obviously an airport that handles 3.8m pax a year and can sustain 5 x
daily to CDG,proves that an airport that handles 8.9m pax a year
should also! This has nothing to do with catchment areas etc,and
everything to do with either politics or sheer neglect by BAA and
their associates(or both)!
The CDG thing's been done to death recently here, especially by me as I
have to get there a few times a year on business and can't fly direct.
Yes,we all know there's a few flights a day from EDI and FR have their
twice daily to a grassy field somewhere North of Paris, but what's the
point of having an international airport on your doorstep if you can't
fly to somewhere like CDG?
|
NCL handles 5.5m pax a year, and BRS handles roughly the same. So what
is the 3.8m pax a year airport? |

Perhaps AF think Ryanair would trash yields just like they did to SN
on the BRU route.
Whoever let PIK go instead of closing it killed GLA.

Could also be said that AF may prefer putting pax through AMS, and
anyone wanting to go through CDG has the choice of flying from EDI?
Or perhaps someone in the background is working on a 2/3 daily

I travelled GLA - BRU a lot when route was running [I am at this
moment sitting in BRU] If I remember the figures travelling from Gla
on this route were higher than Ncl and Brs..????? Don't think PIK has
anything to do with it. If Management at GLA really wanted these
routes? They would simply approach the airlines give them the offer
that was agreeable and hey presto a viable route is put in place. Give
FR an offer, again hey presto another 2 million through the door. It's
easy. All lays with BAA and Gla management. |

It's an outrage ... weekday flights as follows from regional UK
points
ABZ ... 3 x AF
EDI ... 3 x AF 3 x BE
NCL ... 3 x AF 2 x U2
MAN ... 5 x AF 4 x BE 1 x LS
LPL ... 2 x U2 (not to mention start up Fly Pink) who are tipped to
operate LPL-CDG
LBA ... 1 x LS
BFS ... 1 x U2
BHX ... 6 x AF 4 x BE
CVT ... 1 x AF (to ORY) |

The pax figures may have been higher than NCL and BRS, but thanks to
Ryanair just down the road the yields weren't.
PIK has everything to do with it.
We'd have BRU and CDG amongst others if 'pure dead dump' wasn't just
down the road.

No - they did secure the BRU route with SN Brussels quite recently. GLA did
their bit but the phrase "use it or lose it" came home to roost. It was the
BA loyalty card holders that sunk the route IMO.
PIK-CRL is fairly irrelevant. SN were after the Euro connecting pax who
couldn't be prized from BA at the end of the day. Same with Duo who were
offering direct flights from EDI and BHX to top business destinations. The
business communities loyalty to BA put paid to that and the LHR slog
prevailed :-(

Obviously they will be trying to secure it. My money is on easyJet by the
autumn. I agree with everyone that the lack of this bread and butter route
in particular is bizarre. If easyJet haven't got it in the pipeline, Flybe
will I reckon.

To be fair they could not have forseen the likes of FR. But the PIK
