According to http://www.maltatoday.com.mt/2007/04/08/t14.html,
"Ryanair is proposing new routes to Malta from Glasgow Prestwick,
Bristol, Doncaster, as well as Madrid, Bremen, another German airport
close to the Dutch border, and an Eastern European airport..."
Seems that Air Malta wants to stop the new routes as potentially
damaging their services to core airports, but the Malta Hotels and
Restaurants Association says that "airports like Prestwick, Doncaster
and Bristol are not core airports."
We shall see...

I think any FR route to Malta from PIK will adversely affect the Air
Malta service from Abbotsinch?
