Why do both the pilot and copilot advance the throttles on Air Force One on
takeoff?

All professional pilots do that. It's so if the takeoff needs to be
aborted, that both pilots agree with the decision. |

no, it isn't actually, it's so that the handling pilot is in the loop with
throttle position and the non-handling assures that thrust is correctly
set. Non handling or second in command (depending on the operational
procedures )will remove his hand when the thrust is set.
