I am leaving. This ng is no longer worth reading as a source
of useful information about scottish aviation. Neither is it
an amusing diversion.

I had thought about "hanging in there" until Joe leaves for
vacation, typically when things in this ng return to normal,
but frankly it is just depressing reading all this nonsense.
Rod's pompous postings-in-absentia were the last straw.

I will continue to support scottish airports by actually
flying to/from them fairly regularly -- more than most in
here seem to do.

Sorry to see Flash go and hope he reconsiders.

I think everyone who decides to chuck it should leave a parting shot so we
can see who the culprit is. So far Joe is winning by about 6-0.
Having said that I don't think anyone should leave. It's a bit like cutting
off your nose to spite your face. I have considered it many times but the
fact that Joe's views are seen all over the world means I must stay to
correct him.

It's Sat morning and I got board.

Just stopped by to check out the newsgroup and I see nothing has changed.

The newsgroup is not about Edinburgh Airport. Its title is but the content
of most messages has a wild range.

Joe I understand your a pro Edinburgh 100% supporter (great) but I do see it
from the other posters point of view about off topic messages. Reading
between your lines (you allow) posts about anything to do with aviation so
long as it does not have words like "GLA, Glasgow, Paisley, West Coast". I
see how it gets on there goat but then again you are right in saying Glasgow
has its own personal newsgroup where that information should be posted.

Cheerio

I don't think there is a single newsgroup which claims 100% on-topic posts.
But as long as posters are here to contribute on-topic posts and not to
cause trouble I don't have a problem. But some here never seem to post
on-topic.

Not much point having two separate groups otherwise.

Yes indeed...the newsgroup historically has a wide range.

There has been a lot of trouble in various forums in the past over EDI v GLA,
I created this newsgroup with the intention of keeping the two factions
apart..
hence the old posting guidelines that deterred GLA promotion.

The GLA brigade had other ideas and their disgraceful invasion has proved
the old guidelines were indeed wise.

They want 'control' of alt.airports.uk.edinburgh to ensure forced
censorship of
Scotland's most popular aviation newsgroup.

They should be propagating alt.airports.uk.glasgow instead of
popularising this one.

Keep popping-in Colin...in fact stay around, EDI needs all the
aficionados to repel
the GLA Souls...

As long as you dont mention any good news about GLA then everything else is
on topic.

NO it was you that wanted too deter anything that promoted GLA but its ok
too post anything that is bad news about GLA

Guidelines which YOU wrote and changed daily too suit yourself and no one

CENSORSHIP? Your double standards are showing again. You keep on trying too
push censorship of Evening Times articles which appear on the glasgow
newsgroup.

Thread 'drift' is inevitable, posting GLA this, GLA that, is downright
bad manners,
provocative and inviting confrontation.

You are the biggest offender.......................
